GISD Board of Trustees name Hardwick as lone superintendent finalist

By Lisa Shapiro, Staff Writer
The interim in John Hardwick's interim superintendent title may soon go away.
During a regular meeting on Oct. 16, Ganado Independent School District Board of Trustees approved naming Hardwick as the superintendent lone finalist. The vote was unanimous.
State law requires the board to wait at least 21 days before it considers officially hiring Hardwick. The board can negotiate a contract with Hardwick during the 21-day window. His first day as permanent superintendent could be as early as Nov. 6.
Hardwick was named interim superintendent May 21, replacing Jeff Black, who was put on paid leave at that time. Black was indicted for indecency with a child/sexual contact on Sept. 30. He resigned shortly thereafter.
More details will be published in the October 22 edition of the Jackson County Herald-Tribune.
