The Cowgirls played and won against Van Vleck in three games, 25-8, 25-18 and 25-11, on Sept. 12.
Haleigh Evans had 20 assists, seven digs, a kill and five aces, plus Ashley Myers’ two blocks and nine kills. Megan Callaway had two assists, two blocks, seven kills and a dig, with transfer Sierra Pruitt’s assist, five digs, nine kills and an ace. Crystal Coulter gave her team two blocks, a dig and two kills, plus Kadi Elledge’s two blocks and three kills. Kamryn Roman had six digs and a kill, plus Kim Ortolon’s five digs and a kill. Bailey Brown had an assist, four digs, a kill and two aces, Haley Mitchell gave six digs and two aces, while Rylee Morrow added a block.
Head Coach Rachel Collins said the team is starting to play better as a whole and now as individuals. “Defensively the girls are reading the opponent’s hitters and are staying outside the block to pick up some crucial digs; the hitters are playing much smarter as well as blocking more,” she said. “We have played 25 matches so far and we are now heading into our district season, the team is excited and focused for this part of the season.”
The Edna Cowgirls will have played Tidehaven at home on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and will play Hallettsville at home on Friday, Sept. 19.
