Edna gets a Homecoming win in after rough start

The Edna Cowboys earned a win on Homecoming night, Sept. 12, against the Van Vleck Leopards with a final, close score of 38-31, determined in the last minutes of the game. Coaches, fans, and students alike jumped and cheered as senior Marquis Broussard made the last touchdown of the night for his team.
Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator Huey Chancellor said winning isn’t easy when you get into a rut and it takes care of a lot of things. “Everybody gave good effort and I think defensively we’ve improved and corrected some things,” he said. “DeOntae Jones made good run and Landon O’Connor passed well that night.”
Senior #10 Holton Newbern said the Homecoming game was the first the ‘Boys played where they didn’t have a setback. “We played together as one, and made plays when the opportunity struck. This week we’ll really work hard on still playing together as a unit, but staying focused for the entire game.”
The game started with both teams feeling the other out with plays and takedowns, not to mention a fumble by each in the first quarter. #12 Issac Shelton kicked off the game, with an immediate sack by #20 Alvell Robinson to a Leopard running back. A great take-down was made by #34 Dillon Littleton, #62 Sergio Vega, and #4 DeOntae Jones on a first down, and Littleton, Robinson and #33 Logan O’Connor had another skilled takedown of a Leopard.
