Lorene Kuban
Lorene Josephine Pakebusch Kuban, of Edna, age 84, passed away Thursday, Aug.14, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born in Gonzales on Feb. 28, 1930 to the late Rudolph and Elsa Pakebusch.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Lorene Wimberly and husband Clovis of Ganado; son, Lee Wayne Karl and wife Renee of Edna; brothers, Buddy Pakebusch of Victoria and Sonny Pakebusch of Kingwood; one sister, Cleo Tomas of Gonzales; grandchildren, Sherri Martin and husband Matt of Lolita, LaFawn Snedecor and husband Tim of Ganado, and Forrest Karl of Edna; great-granddaughters, MaKayla and Skylar Lenamon, Lexi Snedecor, and Maci Martin. “Nanny” was known as a very loving wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and so much more. Her kindness and open door will be remembered by everyone she came in contact with.
Lorene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Frank Kuban of 45 years; one brother, Ruben Pakebusch; two sisters, Ollie Sommerlatte and Bootsie Zella.
Visitation was on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Heinold officiating. Graveside service were held at 3 p.m. in Rupert Cemetery in Cheapside.
Pallbearers were Eddie Davis, Matt Martin, Mike Reed, Randy Tomas, Roger Tomas, and Mike Zella. Honorary pallbearers were all grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Fl., New York, NY 10001.
