Jackson County commissioners accepted a letter of resignation from Dwayne Taylor as justice of the peace, precinct 2 during commissioners’ court on June 23.
His resignation will go in effect on June 30. Taylor was not present at the meeting and could not be contacted. Commissioners considered appointing an individual to the position of Justice of the Peace, precinct 2 for the remainder of the term, but decided to wait until they receive more clarification on the procedure. Jackson County Judge Dennis Simons said a special meeting will be called before commissioners can appoint someone.
Republican Chairman Emil Lynard Olson nominated Precinct 2 Constable Cyndi Poulton for the position during the meeting.
More information will be published in the July 2 edition of the Jackson County Herald-Tribune.
