Free diabetes classes offered

    Do you or someone you know have diabetes? “Do Well, Be Well With Diabetes” is a free educational program for people or family members with type 2 diabetes that is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Jackson County Hospital District, and Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc.
    The primary goal of the program is to help participants learn how to manage their blood glucose in the ranges recommended by the American Diabetes Association.
    Classes will be held on Thursdays, June 12 through July 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Jackson County Services Building auditorium, 411 N. Wells, Edna.
    The June 12 class topic is “What is Diabetes?” June 19 is “Nutrition: First Step to Diabetes Management” and “One Diabetes Diet: No Longer Sole Option”, June 26 the topic is “Managing Your Blood Glucose”, July 3, “Nutritional Labels” and “For Good Measure at Home and Eating Out”, July 10 “Diabetes and Exercise, Medications” and July 17, “Preventing and Managing Complications.”
