Baby is a blessing for mother-to-be

It’s hard to believe baby Shapiro is well on his/her way to entering the world that we live in. My husband, Jeremy, and I just purchased a baby swing and it is placed in our living room. The more I see it there, the more reality sinks in. Right now, Stitch is seated in it. Visions of what our little one will look like in it flashes in my mind.
Pregnancy has been a journey for me. Symptoms from the first trimester have subsided and just as I started feeling rejuvenated and more relaxed during the second trimester a new set of pregnancy symptoms have started. No matter how badly I feel, the thoughts of having a little one around our apartment keeps me optimistic and hopeful.
This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect. I’m a little scared of the labor and just the idea of becoming a mom. Everyone tells me I am going to do fine and I know I will. I just have to erase all of those what ifs in my mind.
By the time this column comes out I may know what the baby’s gender is. This will be a huge relief for us because we will be able to start shopping for clothes, decorations and toys that are suitable for their gender. We also will be able to announce it to everyone so we won’t be asked that question again.
I know some expecting moms can’t help themselves but inform everyone of the baby’s developments or what symptoms they are going through on a daily basis. I have a few friends that are like that on Facebook and I think some people overdo it. I just check in every once in a while to see what stage they are at and if I can get some helpful advice from them. I will try my best not to inform everyone of every detail in my pregnancy and only stick to more significant highlights of my pregnancy.
My sister just had her first child a year and a half ago. She posts photos of my nephew on her Facebook page. The other day she posted photos of him Easter egg hunting and I kept thinking about how my little one and he can go Easter egg hunting together. Both she and I are excited to see how the two get along and how cute they will be together. My sister is just as excited as I am about putting the two together.
I am very thankful to have a husband who cares enough about the pregnancy to read all of the pregnancy books and set a schedule for all of the things we need to do.
Jeremy and I discussed over the weekend what we think our baby is going to grow up to be. We both agree it will have a talent for writing.
We both feel blessed for this opportunity and are wishing our baby the best in life.
