Girls’ hitting improving, according to coach

    The Edna Cowgirls played four games during Spring Break because of weather cancellations. On Friday, March  7, they traveled to Refugio and beat the Lady Bobcats 10-4. Madison Kucera pitched a complete game and hit a homerun.
    On Saturday, March 8, the Cowgirls defeated Bloominton 6-4. Brittany Ressman started pitching and Kucera pitched the last inning.
    On Tuesday, March 11, Haley Orsak pitched a complete game, helping her team defeat the Palacios Lady Sharks 13-3. Orsak also hit a homerun and 2RBIs.
    On Friday, March 14, the Edna Cowgirls traveled to Tidehaven and defeated the Lady Tigers 17-1. Kucera and Ressman pitched the victory. The team scored five in the third inning and seven in the fourth inning. Taylor Darilek had two hits and 2RBIs.
    Coach Ted Malek said the girls are working hard. “We had four big wins in the last week to bring our district record to 5-0. The girls have their goals, and our pitching has been good,” he said. “Our hitting is getting better. It’s a tough district and we have tough games ahead of us.”
    The Cowgirls will have played the Industrial Lady Cobras on Tuesday, March 18, and will play Goliad Friday in Edna at 4:00pm.
