William "Billy" Davis

    William A. “Billy” Davis, of Edna, passed away Friday, Feb.  21, 2014 at the age of 69.  He was born in Wharton on Sept. 26, 1944, to the late C. Roy Davis and Maxine T. Powers.
    Billy was a farmer for many years. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.
    Billy is survived by his sons, Kevin Davis and wife Marcy of Edna, and Will Davis and wife Ruby of Houston; sister, Doris Farquhar of Edna; grandchildren, Haley Davis, Brady Davis, and Will Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by lifelong friends, David and Dianne Coan, Bill and Margie Bryan, Gary and Celeste Hagel and Vondean Schmidt and his long time side-kick Willie Tejeda and his little dog and constant companion Sissy.  
    In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Ann Davis and his mother and father-in-law Carl and Viola Johnson.
    Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, at First United Methodist Church, Edna.  Burial followed in Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, El Campo with Rev. Bernard Ritchea officiating.
    Pallbearers are Kurt Johnson, Doyle Johnson, James Johnson, Damon Crabtree, Marcus Farquhar, Clay Coan, Trey Bryan and Davis Farquhar.  Honorary pallbearers are Daniels Coffee Club, David Coan, Bill Bryan, Gary Hagel, Alroy Malina, Bill Holingsworth and Raymond Terry.
    Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 216 West Main, Edna, Texas 77957.
