Lady Cobras deal with hard loss

The Industrial Lady Cobras (18-5) played Marion in a playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 1, and lost 30-55.
“This playoff loss was very disappointing and was tough to swallow. We played nowhere near our potential,” said Coach Brandon Karl. “We came out a little timid and couldn’t find a way to score, we picked a very bad night to shoot our lowest percentages for the season.”
According to Karl, the Cobras shot 11 out of 36 free throws and eight out of 61 from the field.
Jessica Martin scored 14 points, three offensive rebounds, four defensive rebounds, three deflections and a steal, and Skylar Chreene scored six points, two offensive rebounds, a defensive rebound, a deflection and three steals. Kelsey Van Pelt scored five points, two assists, two offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds, a block, a deflection and three steals, and Sabrina Emiliano scored three points, a defensive rebound, three deflections and two steals. Jade Trowbridge scored two points, an offensive rebound, a defensive rebound and four deflections, and Morgan Gabrysch has an offensive rebound, a defensive rebound, a deflection and a steal. Sierra Pruitt earned two assists, an offensive rebound, four defensive rebound, three deflections and two steals, and Hannah Gabrysch added two defensive rebounds and a steal. Lauren Brogger added an offensive rebound, a defensive rebound, a deflection and two steals, and Haley Wood added an offensive rebound. Cassidy High earned an assist, an offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, a block, two deflections and two steals.
“Although the loss hurt, when you go back and look at the season as a whole the girls accomplished a lot and I’m proud of them for all the successful things they did,” Karl added. “After not going to the playoffs last year and losing some real solid players our main goal was getting to the playoffs and we did that. I’m very thankful for the opportunity I had with this group, they were unselfish and very coachable, and make my job easy.”
Karl also added that expectations will be high for next year, being that 10 out of 11 players will be returning to the basketball program.
