Eusebia Hernandez
Eusebia Hernandez, of Edna, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10 at the age of 89. She was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Edna to the late Donasiano and Auestacia Altamira Barrientes.
Eusebia worked as a housewife for many years, Eusebia touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. She also was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Janie Zamora (Rudy) of Needville, Amelia Zarate (Manuel) and Mary Linda Sertuche (Pete); sons, Felix (Delia), Ignascio (Eloisa), Tommy (Jovita), Johnny (Stephanie), Manuel, Jesse (Terry), Emilio (Angie), Domingo (Michelle), all of Edna; brother, Jose Barrientes of Corpus Christi; 54 grandchildren, 95 great -randchildren and 48 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose Maria Hernandez Sr.; daughter, Lupe Zamora; sons, Lucio Hernandez, Joe Hernandez and Raymond Hernandez; four sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 5-7 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home, rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at St Agnes Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Petering will officiate. Burial to follow at Latin American Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Emilio Hernandez Jr., Carlos Jose Sertuche, Pete Sertuche Jr., Raymond Hernandez, Tommy Hernandez Jr. and Derrick Bermea. Honorary pallbearers are Domingo Hernandez, Emilio Hernandez and Jesse Hernandez.
