Hamlin "Sonny" Damborsky

    Hamlin Ervin “Sonny” Damborsky of Edna passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the age of 86. He was born Oct.1, 1927 in Needville to the late Charlie and Claudie Damborsky.
    Sonny served in World War II as a Private 1st Class stationed in Italy. He also was a prominent Jackson County farmer. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his time with his grandchildren, great-grandchild and he will be missed dearly.
    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Minnie Mae Yendrey Damborsky; son, Michael Damborsky and wife (Anna) daughter, Vicki Kaelin and husband (Jim).He is also survived by his grandchildren, Blake Damborsky (Lindsey Benavides), Whitney Miller (Christopher), Katie Kaelin and Lauren Kaelin; and great-granddaughter, Karsyn Damborsky.
    Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnny Damborsky, Albert Damborsky, Lee Fred Damborsky, Marvin Damborsky and Leonard Damborsky; sisters, Irene Pecha, Valerie Day Baker and infant sister.
    Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 5-7 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home, with a Rosary to follow. A funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating.      Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna.
    Pallbearers will be Charles Damborsky, Ronnie Damborsky, Ryan Damborsky, Glen Damborsky, Blake Damborsky and Christopher Miller.
    Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, Texas 78761 and St. Agnes Catholic Church, 506 N. Allen Ave, Edna, Texas 77957.
