Mary Ann Boehm

    Mary Ann Rakowitz Boehm of Ganado passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013. She was born in Edna on Dec. 16, 1930 to the late Alban and Rosie Yendrey Rakowitz. She was a homemaker and co-owner of the White’s Auto Store in Ganado with her husband Raymond William Boehm who proceeded her in death.
    Mary Ann was a current member of the Catholic Daughters of America of Assumption Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #346 of Ganado. She was well known for her flowers and yard was named “Yard of the Month” on several occasions. Mary Ann and Raymond loved to travel with her sisters Frances and Justine and their husbands Oscar and Eugene. They visited all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. Her hobbies included fishing and relaxing at Carancahua Bay.
    She is survived by her children Elizabeth Holub of Ganado, Raymond W. “Buzzy” Boehm II and wife Vicki of Austin, Debra A. Boehm of Victoria, and Rosann Cavender and husband Travis of Angleton; grandchildren Leo David Holub II, Kevin Holub and wife Lisa, Brian Holub, Tanya Boehm, Tamera Boehm, Chris Hinojosa and wife Liz, Jarrett Cavender and wife Jennifer, and Justin Cavender; great-grandchildren Leo David “Trey” Holub III, Mackenzie, Madelyn, Maxwell Holub, and Jazzlynn Cavender; sisters Justine Vesely, Ruby Sawyer, Dorothy Hagen; brother Albert Rakowitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by son in law Leo Holub, sisters Gertrude Tegeler Sparks, Anna Connell Reyher, Frances Tudyk, and brother Ray Rakowitz.
    Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
    Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado, with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
    Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 5-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, or American Legion Auxiliary of Ganado.
