John Srubar
John J. Srubar, 96, passed away on Oct. 9, 2013. He was born on Nov. 23, 1916, in Taiton to the late Cyril and Jenofe Cernoch Srubar.
John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Judith Hajovsky Srubar; two daughters, Gloria Macha of Spring and Joyce Bundick and husband Paul, of Ganado. Also surviving are his grandsons Clinton Macha and wife Emily of Houston, John Paul Bundick and wife Barbie of Ganado and Michael Bundick and his wife Erica of Manvel; five great-grandchildren, Garreth, Blake, Jordyn, Sly and Lauren Bundick; brother, Leon Srubar and wife, Agnes, of Westhoff and sisters, Edna Kacal of Wharton and Bernice Kurtz and husband Thomas of Victoria.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Zetka; and brothers, C.G. and Lad Srubar; and a son-in-law, Gene Macha.
Pallbearers are Paul Bundick, John Paul Bundick, Clinton Macha, Michael Bundick, Garreth Bundick and Glen Srubar.
John was a member of the Assumption Parrish in Ganado, VFW Post 15045 and SPJST Lodge 138. He served in the Army in World War II for four years and three months earning three Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct medal. After serving his country, John worked at Alcoa and farmed before dedicating his life to farming and ranching full time.
Visitation will be Oct. 10 from 6- 8 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 11 with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. and a mass at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Lyons officiating. Interment will follow at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
