County fair continues at BRC

    Parade goers were greeted with sunny skies for the annual Jackson County Youth Fair parade held in downtown Edna on Oct. 5. There were 44 entries and trophies were presented to winners in four categories.
    In the adult organization division, Baptist Temple Church took first place with its entry “Jesus is the sweetest name I know.” Taking second place was the Boston Family on horseback and third place was First Baptist Church of Edna Upward Basketball.
    The commercial division first place winner was Zen Martial Arts. Second place honors went to Bradford Motors and First Victoria Bank’s entry.
    In the novelty division Rick Boone took first place with his 1935 International pickup truck. Lawrence Prince came in second with his 1954 International pickup truck, and Chopo’s took third place with his classic Mustang entry.
    First place honors in the youth division went to the Industrial High School cheerleaders while second place was the Edna Youth Football League entry. Razzle Dazzle Dance rounded out the winners taking third place. Photos of the winning entries will be included in the Fair Wrap Up section in the Oct. 23 issue.
    Fair events continue this week at the Brackenridge Main Event Center with livestock judging all day Wednesday, the senior citizen luncheon at noon on Thursday and the Little Wrangler Rodeo at 6:30 p.m. Kindergarten Day is set for Friday at 9 a.m. and the NPR Bull Ride event is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
    Everything winds up on Saturday with livestock judging at 9 a.m., the buyers luncheon at 11 a.m. in the main arena and auction at 1 p.m.
