ESD contract a done deal

Edna City Council unanimously approved the contract to provide fire and EMS services for Emergency Services District 3 at the Sept. 19 meeting.
The signed contract is the culmination of nearly a year of effort by the city to find a solution to the ever-increasing cost of providing fire and EMS services for the city.
The ESD is levying a 10 cent per hundred valuation for residents in the Edna Independent School District. They will pay the City of Edna $450,000 for fire/EMS service the first year of the contract, with a 2.5 percent increase the following year. As per the agreement, the City of Edna will contribute the funds necessary to balance the proposed budget.
