Diajwin Triplett, 24, of Texas City was arrested on Aug. 7 outside the Jackson County Herald-Tribune office for allegedly stealing a 2006 Hummer in Hitchcock.
Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge said the Hitchcock Police Department contacted the Edna Police Department about the stolen Hummer around 12:30 p.m. He said the vehicle owner was able to track the stolen vehicle through their Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS coordinates showed the stolen vehicle parked in the H-E-B parking lot, 301 N. Wells in Edna. When police arrived Triplett tried to flee by driving off in the Hummer. He later got out of the vehicle on Cypress Street and ran away before being captured and arrested at the JCHT parking lot.
The Edna Police Department, Precinct 2 Constable Cyndi Poulton and the district attorney’s office responded to the call.
Triplett was seen running away from officials across Wells Street from H-E-B by a number of witnesses. He was later arrested in the parking lot of JCHT.
