EISD proposed budget would lower tax rate

Edna Independent School District Board of Trustees got their first glimpse of the 2013-14 budget during a special meeting on Aug. 5. The total proposed budget is $12,987,152 and the proposed tax rate is $1.3096, which is less than last year’s tax rate of $1.4106.
Edna ISD Superintendent Bob Wells said trustees will consider approving the budget at its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 19. The public will have a chance to comment on the budget before a vote is taken at the regular meeting. Wells said the budget is balanced because the total amount in expenditures and revenue match. Last year’s budget revenues are $16,074,846. Revenue for this year is $12,987,152.
