Commissioners order burn ban

Jackson County Commissioners approved a burn ban at their Aug. 12 regular meeting.
The burn ban will be in effect for a 90 day period and may be lifted if a substantial amount of rain comes to the area within the 90 day period. All outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated area of the county.
As of Aug. 12, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index average for Jackson County was at 593 with the high set at 714 and the low at 417.
