Ganado family loses all in fire

A devastating fire left Katherine Pilcik and Robert Betancourt homeless on June 21 about 8 p.m.
Pilcik’s mother Beverly Pilcik said everything she stored in the house on 4960 Street along Highway 172 in Ganado was destroyed. Currently, Katherine Pilcik and Betancourt are living with Beverly Pilcik’s mother-in-law who lives across the street from their home.
Beverly Pilcik said nobody was at home and the couple’s five dogs were outside the home so no one was hurt. It was Beverly Pilcik’s mother-in-law who called 911 and contacted her about the fire. Beverly Pilcik was not living with Katherine Pilcik and her boyfriend. She only kept some of her stuff inside the home.
Beverly Pilcik said some electrical wires had caught on fire inside the home. She said the couple are looking for a place to live. They need clothing, furniture and food.
Anyone wanting to donate items or money can call Katherine Pilcik at 361-771-6622 or Beverly Pilcik at 361-554-2026.
“I am working on setting up an account at a bank in Edna (for monetary donations),” she said.
