Rider takes reserve at state

McKayla Marthiljohni won Reserve Champion in the pole bending category at the Texas Junior High Rodeo State Finals held in Gonzales, June 1, with a time of 20.5 seconds. She will represent Texas in the National Junior High School Finals in Gallup, New Mexico at the Red Rock Park on June 23-29. She is the daughter of Michael and Jessica Marthiljohni of Edna.
"I felt pretty confident going into it,” Marthiljohni said. “The hardest part is staying off the poles, you get five points added to your score if you do."
