City passes Quiet Zone

Edna City Council listened intently as one city resident after another pleaded with them to make the city a quiet zone and give relief from the middle of the night train horns.
A public hearing was held on June 6 to hear concerns or comments from citizens on the implementation of a Quiet Zone.
Donnie Sparks, owner of an RV park off of Loop 521, said he spent a lot of money putting the park in and has had many campers move out because of the train noise. Sparks showed council a video of the train going through Louise, which has a Quiet Zone, and then going through Edna.
