Jim Stallings

 

Jimmy A. "Jim" Stallings of Edna, Texas passed away on June 6, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born on June 28, 1930 in Ulysses, Kansas, to the late James and Beulah Stallings.
Jimmy served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957. Jimmy retired from Hunt Oil Company after 35 years. He was married to Marie Cooper Stallings and before her death they celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Jimmy was a member of The Church of Christ in Edna and a veteran of The Korean War. He loved working in his yard, woodworking and watching the Houston Astros.
Survivors are his three sons, Larry Stallings and wife Sharon of Victoria, Jeffery Stallings and wife Cherie of Houston, and Kevin Stallings of Edna; and daughter, Cindy Hale, of Edna. He is also survived by a sister, Ruby Jacobe, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie Stallings, the mother of his children, Billie Lou Stallings, sisters, Florence, Cordelia, and brother Willard Stallings.
V isitation was June 8 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Slavik Funeral Home, Edna and funeral services were June 9 at the Church of Christ in Edna with Wayne Seaton officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Ganado American Legion Post 346.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
