Be ready to welcome Wounded Warriors

Citizens of Edna and Ganado can show their patriotism on Friday, May 17 by lining the streets and showing their support for military personnel who were wounded in the global war on terrorism during the Warrior’s Weekend parade.
The wounded warriors will be making a detour through Ganado on York Street then to Edna on Main Street. After Edna, they will attend the Warrior’s Weekend Hero’s Field of Honor Dedication at 3 p.m. in Victoria next to Faith Family Church, 2002 E. Mockingbird Lane before heading out to Port O’Connor where they will spend the weekend fishing, attending a barbecue, a fish fry, a Texas Hold’em Tournament and participating in other fun activities, according to Ron Kocian, president of Warrior’s Weekend Board of Directors.
Blake Petrash said the Warriors make a special detour off of Highway 59 to go through Ganado and Edna because of the outpouring of support that Jackson County gives Warriors Weekend and the Field of Honor.
“It is an opportunity for the residents of Jackson County to show their support for the Warriors and their families who have sacrificed so much for our freedom,” Blake Petrash said. “Residents should line up early along the route to and show their patriotism with flags, signs and et cetera.”
