Max Lewis Templin

Max Lewis Templin III, age 81, of Peoria, Ariz. went to be with his Lord on April 22, 2013. He was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Schulenburg. 

He is survived by his brother Howard Daniel Templin and wife Barbra of Yoakum. He was a beloved husband of 46 years to Dovie. He was a loving father to daughter Shellie Romero and husband Derrick of Peoria, Ariz.; sons, David Templin and wife Tammy of Austin, Michael Templin and wife Georgie of Edna, Thomas Templin and wife Jo Ann of Cedar City, Utah. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Max moved from Schulenburg to Edna where he graduated from high school. He attended Texas A&M from 1949 to 1953 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He joined the U.S. Air Fore in 1953 as 2nd Lieutenant and retired in 1975 as a Lieutenant colonial, having served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. While there, he received the Silver Star medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross medal, two Bronze Star medals, the Air Medal, the Air Force Commendation medal, the Meritorious Service medal, the Certificate of Recognition for Combat Duty, and many more service medals and awards. Max went to work for the Marriott Corporation in 1977 until 1992 in Scottsdale, Ariz.. where he retired as Safety and Security Director for the Camelback Inn. He then took up traveling, rv’ing, and bought a summer home in Munz Park, Ariz.. Max was an active and founding member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Glendale, Ariz. He was a strong, kind and loving man to all that knew him. He will be missed and forever live in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10 at 12:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Glendale, Ariz. followed by interment at 2:30 p.m. at the V.A. National cemetery of Arizona, located at 23029 North Cave Creek in Phoenix, Ariz.
