Joe Lewis Gonzales, of Edna, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the age of 54. He was born Nov. 14, 1958, in Slaton to Antonio C. Gonzales and the late Anita Sertuche Gonzales.
Joe drove a rig for over 20 years and later worked as a maintenance man for the Edna High School. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Estrella Gonzales; father, Antonio C. Gonzales; daughter, Alondra Gonzales; step-daughters, Ana and Jasmine Bueno; sister, Mary Alice Betts and husband Gary; brothers, Johnny A. Gonzales and wife Bernie, Benny Gonzales and wife Dorney, and Joe Manuel Gonzales and wife Dora, all of Edna.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be Friday, April 26 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m.in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna. Rev. Robert Guerra will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Gonzales Cemetery in Edna.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Gonzales, John Gonzales, Ben Gonzales, Bobby Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Timothy Gonzales, Jason Browning and Ricky Fryar.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Gonzales, Benny Gonzales, Gary Betts, John Lopez, Pete Sertuche Sr. and Gaynard Robinson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. 361-782-2221.
