Vehicle crash takes life

A fatal crash took the life of Joshua Woods, 69, of Edna, on Farm-to-Market Road 822 at 7:54 a.m. on April 23.
His wife, Glenda, 58, was driving a 2003 Ford Windstar southbound on FM 822 with Joshua who was a passenger. Cody Fojtik, 36, of Edna, drove a 2010 F-150 across the center lane while going northbound before striking the Windstar head on. Fojtik’s 3-year-old son Jaxson Fojtik was a passenger in the F-150.
Joshua was flown by a PHI helicopter from the scene to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper spokesman Gerald Bryant. Glenda was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro in Victoria. Cody and Jaxson both received injuries that were not life-threatening. Cody was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with multiple fractures to the face and head.
Bryant said the accident is still under investigation and it could take in between two to three weeks before he is able to give additional information.
Alicia Ocanas of Edna said Glenda and Joshua would often visit the Mexican Baptist Mission on Pumphrey Street in Edna. Ocanas said she was very concerned about Glenda’s condition and wanted to send her condolences to her and her family.
“I’ve known Glenda ever since I was little and she has always been very talkative and friendly,” Ocanas said.
