James Preston Hoskins

 

James Preston "JP" Hoskins, 85, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. He was born to Jim and Beulah Hoskins in Red Bluff on March 5, 1927. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He was actively involved in the American Legion Post 346. He was an active member of Baptist Temple in Edna. 
Preston is survived by his son Mike Hoskins and wife Linda of Ganado; grandson Justin Hoskins and wife Cori of Ganado along with three great-grandchildren; and granddaughter Holly Hoskins Kubala and husband Matthew of Midland along with two great-grandchildren; sister Tommy Hoskins Gerdes of Edna; sister-in-law Jeannine Hoskins of Edna. 
Preston was preceded in death by his parents; wife Earlene Webernick Hoskins; beloved friend Bobbie Kornegay; brothers Bill Hoskins and Clyde Hoskins; sisters Alma Ellis, Eva Tate, Earline Gibson, and Jo Ann James.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 pm Saturday, March 2 at Slavik Funeral Home in Edna. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday March 3 at Baptist Temple in Edna officiated by Pastor George Tompkins. Interment will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Edna. 
Pallbearers are Thomas Gerdes, Brent Hoskins, Rodger Ellis, Glen Tate, Philip Webernick, Robert Gerjes and William "JR" Webernick. Honorary pallbearers are Preston's friends in his Coffee Club.
