Maidens play hard to the buzzer, but fall to Marlins

The Ganado Maidens traveled to Refugio Feb. 15 for the Area round showdown of the UIL basketball playoffs. The Maidens faced the District 1A-31 champions and number 8 ranked team in the state of Texas, the Port Aransas Lady Marlins. The Maidens were coming off their bi-district win over Pettus Feb. 12. The match up with the 28-4 Port Aransas Lady Marlins set up to be a good one and neither team disappointed.
Ganado started the game with a three pointer by Ashley Bridges to set the tone of the game. However, the Lady Marlins did not back down and stormed out to a 12-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
